SHOULDER SURFING :

Stop shoulder surfing! It's not polite! E eu considero extremamente irritante!
I hate when people start shoulder surfing while I'm on the computer!
Hey, I'm talking to you. So, stop shoulder surfing!

A gramática estava impecável.

He got burned in the game yesterday.
She went to the party and got burned really bad.
I paid a lot more than i should have for it and i got burned really bad.
We got burned a couple of times but did pretty well.

- O Tabajara Futebol Clube é de longe o pior time do mundo.

- Tabajara Futebol Clube is by far the worst in the world.
- She’s by far the most beautiful.
- This is by far the most expensive computer in the market.
- This vacation is being by far the worst I’ve ever had. Fonte : Inglês na Ponta da Língua -

Expressões utilizadas pelos americanos:

Cost an arm and a Leg, mais uma vez a questão cultural faz a diferença. Exemplo: These opera tickets cost us an arm and a leg!

Eu algumas vezes simulei o recebimento do maior prêmio do cinema mundial. Ex.: It never crossed my mind that she might lose.

Every other day, se você vai à academia dia sim dia não então diga: I go to the gym every other day. Ficaria assim: every other week, every other month, every other year.

Ex. I’m sick of love stories. Can we watch a comedy for a change? (Eu estou cansado de histórias de amor. Podemos assistir uma comédia pra variar?)

Deliver the goods, quando uma pessoa dá conta de determinada tarefa, esta pessoa “deliver the goods”. Exemplo: “Whatch out for Dylan”, John advised Carl. “He’s a great talker but he doens’t always deliver the goods”.

Exemplo: I bought a car last weekend. It was dirty cheap!

Exemplo: We don’t have a stapler here, can you make do with some scotch tape?

Podemos dizer o seguinte, Americans used to make fun of canadian accent.

Exemplo: I wonder how John manages to make ends meet on such a low salary!

Now and then, é o nosso famoso “de vez em quando”. Portanto, se você estuda Inglês now and then é bom rever os seus conceitos, mais dia menos dia você vai precisar dele. Confira um exemplo: Now and then, I like to go to the countryside for some fresh air (Eu gosto de ir para o interior para respirar ar fresco de vez em quando).

So, I think I’ll take a nap (Vou tirar uma soneca).

Ex: My friend is out in left field.

Ex.: She really threw me a curveball! There goes all my planning! (Ela realmente me deixou em uma situação complicada! Lá se vão todos os meus planos.)

Get out of hand, imagine que você está dando uma festa (throwing a party) e de uma hora pra outra começa uma briga. Voa cadeira pra todo lado. Você pode dizer que a festa got out of hand, ou seja, saiu do controle.

Once in a while, é similar à expressão anterior. Portanto vamos ao exemplo: Once in a while John Lock likes to get away from the city and go to the countryside for a little relaxation (De vez em quando, John Lock gosta de se afastar da cidade e ir para o interior para relaxar).

EU ME VIRO :

a) I speak more or less.
b) I get by.
c) More or less.
d) I turn around.
e) Pretty well!

“Eu me viro” pode ser expresso dizendo
I get by/I can get by. Ou seja: My English isn’t perfect, but I can get by in most situations (“O meu inglês não é perfeito, mas eu me viro na maioria das situações”).

I get by on my small salary (“Eu me viro com um salário baixo”). Longe de mim desejar isto a alguém, mas situação igualmente comum é While I’m unemployed, I can’t get by on what I have (“Enquanto estou desempregado, não consigo me virar com aquilo que tenho”). Agora, se a coisa ficar mesmo preta, poder-se-á usar o seguinte: I was lost in the forest but got by eating grubs and insects (“Eu estava perdido na floresta, mas consegui me virar comendo lesmas e insetos”). Espero que ajude. And I hope you can get by with the help of my explanation now (“E eu espero que você consiga se virar agora com o auxílio da minha explicação”).

"TER" AS TO BE (15)

Portanto, muitas vezes ter corresponde a to be, conforme os seguintes exemplos:
Quantos anos você tem? - How old are you?

Você tem certeza? - Are you sure?
Você tem razão. - You are right.
Não tenho medo de cachorro. - I'm not afraid of dogs.
O que é que tem de errado? - What's wrong?
Não tive culpa disso. - It wasn't my fault.
Tivemos sorte. - We were lucky.
Tenha cuidado. - Be careful.
Tenho pena deles (sinto por eles). - I feel sorry for them.
Isto não tem graça. - That's not funny.
Não tenho condições de trabalhar. / Não estou em condições ... - I'm not able to work. / I can't work.
Ela tem vergonha de falar inglês. - She's too shy to speak English.
Você tem que ter paciência. - You must be patient.
Ele tem facilidade para línguas. / Tem jeito ... - He's good at languages.
- This room is 3 meters wide by 4 meters long.

ESTAR DE ... E ESTAR COM ... - PORTUGUESE "ESTAR DE ..." / "ESTAR COM ..." (19)

... fome. / ... medo. / ... sono. - I'm cold. / ... hungry. / ... afraid. / ... sleepy.
Estou com vontade de beber uma cerveja. - I feel like drinking a beer. / I'd like to drink ...
Estou com pressa. - I'm in a hurry.
Estou com dor de cabeça. - I've got a headache. / I have a headache.
Está com defeito. - It's out of order.

Estou de saída. / ... de partida. - I'm leaving.Estou só de passagem. / I was just passing by.Estamos de acordo. - We agree.
Estou com pouco dinheiro. / Estou mal de dinheiro. - I'm short of money.
Está de cabeça para baixo. / Está de pernas para o ar. - It's upside down.
Está tudo misturado. - It's all mixed up.
